Parks and Recreation Personnel (Permanent Seasonal)

DUTIES
- Complete daily work reports.
- Operate ice machine for stadiums.
- Perform regular checks for ice plants in stadiums while in operation.
- Assist with repairs of ice plant maintenance.
- Perform all janitorial duties in stadiums.
- Provide courteous assistance to all stadium users to maintain efficient activities in stadiums.
- Perform operation duties at tournaments and special events.
- Operate town owned Parks and Recreation equipment including pickups, lawn mowers, trimmers, chain saws, brush saws, small loader, small backhoe, raidtrac, grass sweeper, other landscaping equipment.
- Perform regular daily inspections of Parks and Recreation buildings and equipment.
- Enforce town policies, rules and operating procedure in all Recreation Facilities.
- Cut grass in all parks, open spaces, playgrounds and athletic fields.
- Repair grass/lawns from plow damage and public works dig-ups.
- Plant and maintain grass in and around all recreation and town facilities.
- Perform all general maintenance and landscaping needs in Parks Department.
- Apply lime and fertilizer to town’s grass areas.
- Aerate all town grass areas.
- Assist landscape gardeners with planting and maintenance of trees, flowers, shrubs and grasses.
- Other duties as required by the Parks Department.
SALARY
As per CUPE Local 1349 Collective Agreement (2025 – $28.36 per hour)
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess appropriate driver’s license as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador
- Previous outdoor landscaping experience would be an asset
