Hours: 35 hours/week
Rate: $32.00/hour

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is seeking an enthusiastic Wildfire Resiliency Coordinator to support the development of the Town’s Wildland Fire Resiliency Plan. Working with Town staff, consultants, community partners, and residents, you will coordinate public education initiatives, FireSmart activities, and wildfire mitigation projects that help build a safer, more resilient community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver wildfire prevention and FireSmart education through workshops, events, and public outreach.
- Develop communication materials for social media, print, and the Town’s website.
- Coordinate community wildfire mitigation initiatives, including brush reduction, chipping events, and voluntary property assessments.
- Assist with public consultations, committee meetings, and implementation of the Wildland Fire Resiliency Plan.
- Maintain project records, track program activities and expenditures, and prepare reports for the Fire Chief.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of one year of education or experience in Forestry, Environmental Studies, Geography, Natural Resources, Emergency Management, Fire Protection, Community Planning, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in public education, community engagement, project coordination, workshop facilitation, municipal government, emergency management, forestry, wildfire mitigation, FireSmart programming, or GIS/mapping is considered an asset.
- High School Diploma required
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and public speaking abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid NL Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Access to a reliable vehicle
- Eligible to work in Canada
Assets: FireSmart or ICS training; experience in wildfire prevention, forestry, emergency management, or environmental stewardship.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
