Town of Grand Falls-Windsor Assists with Kingston Forest Fire Response
Posted on
The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is pleased to answer the call from the Provincial Government and the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to assist with the ongoing forest fire near Kingston on the Avalon Peninsula.
Today, an initial crew of four qualified firefighters has been deployed, along with support vehicles, hoses, and other required equipment to operate as a mobile firefighting unit. In the days ahead, additional volunteer firefighters from our department may rotate in to ensure sustained support, depending on the duration of the operation and crew fatigue.
We are also continuing to closely monitor the Martin Lake wildfire, which is nearer to our community. We extend our sincere thanks to the local Exploits Search and Rescue team for their efforts in supporting the response in that area. Council and residents of Grand Falls-Windsor stand with those facing the risk of property loss or evacuation, and our thoughts are with all affected.
Council and the people of Grand Falls-Windsor stand in solidarity with the communities and residents affected by these wildfires. We are deeply saddened by reports of property loss and empathize with those still under evacuation who are awaiting word on the safety of their homes.
Our town is proud to contribute our resources and personnel in this time of need, and we remain ready to assist whenever called upon.
– Council of the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor
