As per Section 20 & 21(1) of the Urban & Rural Planning Act, the Town Council of Grand Falls-Windsor wishes to advise that the public hearing for the below amendment has been cancelled.
Objections and representations
- Not fewer than 2 days before the date set for the public hearing, a person or an association of persons may submit to the appropriate council or regional authority 2 signed, written statements of objections and representations with respect to a plan, development regulations or a part of them.
Public hearing
- (1) Where no objection is made under section 20, the council or regional authority may cancel the public hearing
The Town Council of Grand Falls-Windsor has adopted Municipal Integrated Community Sustainability Plan Amendment No. 21, 2025 and Development Regulations Amendment No. 28, 2025.
In general terms, the Town Council of Grand Falls-Windsor wishes to amend the Discretionary uses in the Commercial Neighbourhood zone to allow for residential uses to be used as Short Term Rentals. As former commercial and public use buildings are converted to residential use, the Town wishes to allow for both long-term housing and short term rental options to be available to make the conversion financially viable and ensure that these buildings can be successfully repurposed.
A Public Hearing to consider objections and representations on the Municipal Integrated Community Sustainability Plan and Development Regulations will be held on Thursday May 21, 2026 at the Fire Hall in the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor at 7 PM. Parking is available on the Public Works Depot side on Bayley Street.
Anyone wishing to make an objection or representation shall deposit with the Town Clerk of Grand Falls-Windsor two copies of a signed written statement outlining the objection or representation not fewer than 2 days before the date set for the public hearing. If no objection is made, Council has the authority to cancel the public hearing.
