As per Section 20 & 21(1) of the Urban & Rural Planning Act, the Town Council of Grand Falls-Windsor wishes to advise that the public hearing for the below amendment has been cancelled.
Objections and representations
- Not fewer than 2 days before the date set for the public hearing, a person or an association of persons may submit to the appropriate council or regional authority 2 signed, written statements of objections and representations with respect to a plan, development regulations or a part of them.
Public hearing
- (1) Where no objection is made under section 20, the council or regional authority may cancel the public hearing.
The Town Council of Grand Falls-Windsor has adopted Municipal Integrated Community Sustainability Plan Amendment No. 9, 2024 and Development Regulations Amendment No. 13, 2024 for Repurposing of Commercial & Civic Buildings to Residential.
In general terms, the proposed amendment seeks to change the text of the 2022-2032 Integrated Community Sustainability Municipal Plan and Development Regulations in order to allow for the repurposing of commercial and civic buildings for higher density residential use in the Commercial General, Commercial Highway, Commercial Neighbourhood, Commercial Downtown and Public Use zones. As well, this amendment will allow shipping containers as an accessory use subject to conditions in the Public Use zone.
A Public Hearing to consider objections and representations on the Municipal Integrated Community Sustainability Plan and Development Regulations will be held on September 24, 2025, at the Fire Hall in the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor at 7p.m. Parking is available on the Public Works Depot side on Bayley Street.
Anyone wishing to make an objection or representation shall deposit with the Town Clerk of Grand Falls-Windsor two copies of a signed written statement outlining the objection or representation no fewer than 2 days before the date set for the public hearing. If no objection is made, Council has the authority to cancel the public hearing.
