Grand Falls-Windsor Youth Mental Health Collaborative
The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor in partnership with the Medical Staff of the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre (CNRHC) are hosting the Grand Falls-Windsor Youth Mental Health Collaborative Conference today.
This event will allow youth mental health stakeholders to explore work being done by the Child Youth Mental Heath and Substance Use (CYMHSU) collaborative in British Columbia. The BC partners will share knowledge and experiences on how they are tackling issues associated with youth mental health in that province with groups in Grand Falls-Windsor NL.
“The Medical Staff of CNRHC are committed to working with the community to look at innovative solutions to improve health care delivery to our youth who are experiencing mental health issues”, commented Dr. Lynette Powell, President of medical staff at CNRHC. Dr. Powell added “we are proud and excited to be hosting our colleagues from British Columbia who have done tremendous work in this area. We believe we have great local expertise and skill in our community. Building collaborative relationships will enhance our ability to provide quality care and improve capacity”.
This event is a direct action of the Grand Falls-Windsor Adolescent/Youth Mental Health Crisis Conference held in 2015 which focused on a community based approach tackling serious issues regarding adolescent/youth mental health in the town.
“The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is very pleased to partner with our local medical community to bring education and collaboration opportunities to front line workers and volunteers in our town to help young people and their families. We know, as a Council we have a big role to play as a partner in the health and wellness of our citizens” said Mayor Barry Manuel.
