On Saturday, August 20th, 2016 the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor will join the Canadian Cancer Society- Newfoundland and Labrador Division to screen CBC and the Tragically Hip Presents ‘The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration’ at the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium. Doors for this Celebration will open at 8:00pm.

The night will kick off at 8:30pm with locals Joey Maloney and Greg Forward paying tribute to the Tragically Hip. At 10:00pm we will take in the CBC and the Tragically Hip Presents ‘The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration’ on the big screens. After the screening we will be entertained for the remainder of the evening by a local band (TBA).

At the request of CBC and the Band, all tickets for this show will be free. There will be 2000 tickets made available to any member of the general public that is 19+. Two phone numbers will be released this Tuesday, August 2, 2016 on the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor’s Facebook, Twitter Page and to the Media. Any person (19+) wishing to obtain a ticket must phone either of the released numbers. At that time you will be given details on how to obtain your tickets. There will be a maximum of two tickets per person. Please remain patient as there may be an influx of calls.

 

The numbers to call for tickets are: 489-0451 and 489-0442. The lines will be open Monday-Friday 8:30-12:00 and 1:00-4:00pm. Voicemails will not be returned.

Homes with odd numbers may water their lawns on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Homes with even numbers may water their lawns on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
No watering of lawns is permitted on Monday.

No person shall water lawns or gardens from 12 midnight to 6am.

Town staff are planning to chlorinate Wells Place this afternoon.
We anticipate flushing this out of the system by tomorrow afternoon.
You can expect some discoloration in the Grenfell Estates sub division during this process.

Please be advised that on Saturday July 23rd and Sunday July 24th Penney Paving will be completing Water/Sewer connections at the South intersection of Cromer Ave and Duggan Street (MAZDA).  During this time traffic lanes will be reduced on Cromer Ave and the South Duggan Street access will be closed.  Please reduce speed and obey all traffic signage.  The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor apologizes for any inconvenience.

The area between Burger King and Canadian Tire on Cromer Avenue has been restricted to one lane until further notice as Town Crews are repairing damage to the road in that area.

The access to the Corduroy Brook Trail will be closed at Conservation Place on July 15th from 7am-5pm and on Monday July 18th from 7am – 5pm due to construction in the area.  The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor apologizes for any inconvenience.

Second Avenue will be closed from Victoria to George Street, Kenmore, Trinity, and Elizabeth will have no through fare traffic until further notice. The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
