The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is pleased and excited to announce its 25th Anniversary Celebrations to take place throughout 2016.  In recognition of this milestone there will be events and activities every month in 2016. Plans will be wide ranging to allow the opportunity for citizens of all ages and abilities to participate and help celebrate the 25th Birthday of GrandFalls-Windsor.

“Our Town has a proud and rich history that deserves to be celebrated. We are excited about the many plans in place and we look forward to high levels of community involvement. We ask that community groups and organizations incorporate the anniversary celebrations into their regular activities and events. Let's show off our community spirit.” Mayor Barry Manuel.

Some of the plans include: 25 weeks of free public skating (Adult, Pre-School, Family and General), A Concert in the Park Series, Social Media Challenges and Contests, Seniors Days, A Grand Falls-Windsor Day Block Party, Adult and Children Art Contests, Council vs. Staff Softball Games, our regular annual eventsand much more.

Also, to mark the occasion the Town will be using a commemorative 25th Anniversary logo in all print and electronic media, and there will be plenty of special brand items to use as prizes and giveaways.

Festivities will be kicked off this Saturday, January 23rd in conjunction with a Cataracts special ceremony where past Herder Championship teams and players will be honoured.Mayor Barry Manuel along with the first Mayor of Grand Falls-Windsor, Walwin Blackmore will take part in a ceremonial face off to signify the start of this year long celebration.

Mayor Barry Manuel says, “It is the intention of Council to involve many former Councillors, employees, and citizens who have played an important role in the history of our community, and in particular the amalgamation 25 years ago. Amalgamation took two towns with tremendous pride and history and turned them into one stronger, prosperous community. It is important to never lose sight of our heritage, but to also take pride in what we have become and be a positive contributor to our future.”

There has been a considerable amount of confusion expressed and witnessed, over what to do when the Traffic Lights are flashing, or not working when an electrical failure occurs.

The flashing amber light means proceed with caution into and through the intersection.

The flashing red light means you must come to a complete stop and proceed only when it is safe.

When a power failure occurs and the traffic lights are not on, yield the right of way to any vehicles already in or entering the intersection.  All directions of travel must treat the intersection as if it had all way stop signs, until the traffic lights resume operation.

Thank you for your cooperation.
